Tim's Story City and Guilds 2391

Tim was working as a commercial pilot for a well known London based radio station. For a number of years he had grown increasingly frustrated with the daily routine and the repetitiveness of his work. Young family had come along and living in the south east was not allowing the family to give them the childhood he felt his children deserved. After much thought and research about the electrical trade Tim decided to follow a career change path towards electrical installation work. Realising that he would need to undertake some retraining in this field he contacted Technique Training Limited who guided him through the recent changes in legislation regarding domestic electrical installation work and advised him of his best options.

Tim went on to undertake a City & Guilds 2391 qualification to give him the skills he needed to prove his competence at testing electrical installation work. In only a short time Tim and another colleague have established a thriving business, working for private customers, local councils and large housing associations. Business is looking good for him. Like most of the students that pass through our centre many congratulate us on the effort and enthusiasm that our tutors give to the courses, but its always nice to get a review through the mail when the dust has settled and these are just a few of the praising words Tim had to say about us after he had left the course:-

“Firstly many thanks for the tips regarding the Mobile Home park here in mid Wales. You were spot on; Western Power had failed to make a decent connection, hence the massive resistance reading. Cheers”. “Secondly I’d like to say how well the course prepared me for working in the real world as it were. Although I had a little experience before ( very little) the course has served me incredibly well. If I don’t know the answer, which is becoming rarer, I know exactly where to find it”. “There is so much work here that I am seriously thinking about taking someone on to help and this only 5 months after the course”. “I seriously suggest that your new students introduce themselves to a few local one man electrician businesses. I did, and although I had a couple of knock backs I soon met a couple of very good electricians, who have not only passed on a lot of work to me, thus building up my contacts, but also taught me a lot too”. “Its, as I said on the phone, the best thing I’ve done in years”.
