Lightning Protection - BS EN 62305
LPS001
Description
This course will provide the participant with knowledge of the fundamental principles of lightning, including the supplementary effects on the local electricity supply and telecommunications networks and building structures.
The evaluation of risks and the use of risk assessment in determining the need for and extent of the lightning protection system will allow the participant understand more clearly when, if and how large the lightning protection system will need to be. It has become clear from our experience, by utilisation of the risk assessment principles contained within BS EN 62305, structures are at times protected against lightning strike for reasons of paranoia rather than sound technical fact.
The course focuses on the impact lightning has on structures, available lightning protection systems and the associated earthing requirements.
