MOD02

Description

Aims and objectives

This practical course covers all the commonly used domestic wiring circuits in use today and aims to make you familiar
with the application and use of different types of circuit, along with practical construction, inspection and testing of the circuits built.

The topics that are covered include the following and are put across in a relaxed way, with trainee interaction encouraged from the outset of the course.

Day 1

  • Introduction to circuits and typical applications for both radial and ring circuits
  • Length limitations and volt drop as prescribed by BS 7671 17th Edition Wiring Regulations On Site Guide
  • Lighting circuits, circuit design and constructional techniques, including one way, two way and multi-way circuits
  • Practical workshop constructing all the above lighting circuits in conventional singles, twin and earth cable looped system and conduit system with 6491X conduit cable.

Day 2

  • Continuation of practical workshop commenced on Day 1
  • Basic single circuit inspection and testing principles
  • Practical inspection and testing of circuits previously constructed
  • Documentation overview.

Day 3

  • Radial circuits for sockets and fixed loads
  • Length limitations and volt drop as prescribed by BS 7671 17th Edition Wiring Regulations On Site Guide
  • Practical workshop constructing radial circuits in twin and earth cable and conduit system with 6491X conduit cable.

Day 4

  • Practical inspection and testing of radial circuits previously constructed Ring circuits
  • Length limitations, area covered and volt drop as prescribed by BS 7671 17th Edition Wiring Regulations On Site Guide
  • The requirement for multiple circuits within premises
  • Practical workshop constructing ring circuits in twin and earth cable and conduit system with 6491X conduit cable.

Day 5

  • Practical inspection and testing of ring circuits previously constructed Consumer units, layout and circuit arrangement
  • Protective devices, fuses and MCB’s, as prescribed by BS 7671 17th Edition Wiring Regulations On Site Guide
  • Practical workshop terminating all the previously constructed circuits into a consumer unit
  • Equipotential bonding and supplementary equipotential bonding requirements.
